Volunteer Newsletter 02
Dear U Can Do IT Graduate Volunteers,Welcome to our second Graduate Newsletter, as we are nearing the Season of Goodwill we have an early Christmas message from our Chairman Anthony Wigram.
‘Can I take this opportunity to thank all the Graduate Volunteers for your help over the last year. We are a small Charity, and the support you provide is a great help. We know there are a lot of disabled persons out there that would benefit from the service we provide, and with your help we might be able to reach everyone that needs our training. An important aspect of your work is the contacting of Councillors and MP’s. Often our funding is often dependent on the decisions these people make, and the more they hear of us and what we do, the better our position is. Thanks again, and may I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year’ Anthony Wigram
With Christmas in the air, a great funding opportunity has presented itself. We now have a link from our Web page, www.Ucandoit.org.uk to shopping opportunities at all the main high street stores and much more besides. The great thing about this link is that shopping costs you nothing extra, but UCanDoIT earns commission on anything you buy. They is even a link for cheaper gas and electricity! If you do shop online this Christmas, please use our shopping link, and make sure you tell your friends and family about it too!
Another development that you may be interested in is that we have set up a Buddie Scheme, whereby any students that have lost contact with friends and family can have someone to email. This is such a useful service and I think it can be of real benefit. We also feel that it could be a great opportunity to make new friends, and share ideas. If you haven’t signed up already contact patriciawebb@blueyonder.co.uk
Congratulations this quarter goes to Ann Seakins (See photo below) who has contacted all her local papers in Bexley and even her local council magazine, well done Ann.
Here we have a picture of Ann with one of her guinea pigs. Tragically she lost one call Ginger recently, and we can all sympathise with Ann and her loss. She now has a new member of her family ‘Speckles’, good luck and we wish you all the best.
Have you any photos of your favourite pets that we can include in our next newsletter!
With pets in mind. This November 5th was pretty bad, some of the fireworks sounding like bombs. My dogs were really upset. Did you know that a law has been passed that states that all fireworks must stop at 11.00am. Also did you know that Guide Dogs lose at least a dozen dogs every year due to stress as a result of the fireworks. There are various campaigns regarding inappropriate use of fireworks, perhaps we should pass the word. What are your thoughts?
We wish you all a Merry Christmas
Regards
