Week commencing 23rd June

The week started with an interesting meeting at the Wolfson Centre who are, amongst other things, a designated Centre for the British Educational Communications and Technology association (BECTA) CAP programme. CAP is a government funded initiative aimed at children aged 6 to 18 years old with communication difficulties. There are three benefits in U Can Do I.T. teaming up with Wolfson and becoming a CAP trainer. Firstly we will have children referred to us for training, secondly this will be paid for by BECTA, and thirdly it will help us fulfil a number of funding obligations specifically with under 25 year olds.

At the end of the week we met the southern area manager for Remploy - the largest employer of disabled people in the UK with, 12,000 employees. Remploy manufacture a wide range of products from circuit boards to car parts for many of the FTSE 100 companies , and are keen to train their workforce in IT. So it was agreed that U Can Do I.T would do this for their 5 London depots, starting at the end of July.
