Week Commencing 28th April
We commenced filming for the latest U Can Do I.T. video. Chris Frederick our Appeals Manager has proved himself as a serious contender for the next Cannes Film Festival! Chris has had to deal with the usual range of a producers problems, from difficult actors through to more technical problems of editing and subtitles. The result, however, has been excellent and this low cost exercise is a vital tool in explaining our work, both to current donors, and to future benefactors. It will also be extensively featured at our forthcoming presentation at the House of Commons sponsored by Michael Portillo.A Trustees meeting was held at which the Chairman indicated that he was pleased that the number of Tutorials had increased by 54%, and also with the Learning & Skills Council funding. There was some discussion regarding an SRB grant for the London Borough of Camden, and considerable optimism overall for future funding. Chris Garbett meanwhile commenced his activities, with presentations to Leonard Cheshire"s Workability programme. This initiative is designed to advise and train candidates in getting employment. Because Workability demands a level of computer operating skill, U Can Do I.T. have proposed to supply basic training for Leonard Cheshire. A follow up meeting has been arranged for May.
