Week Commencing 14th October

U Can Do IT was busy with preparations for it"s Annual General Meeting on 16th October, which was followed by a reception and presentation. Guests included the Rt Hon Michael Portillo MP, the Rt Hon Nicholas Wallop of the Band Trust, Roger Jefcoate CBE, Shuna Kennedy of Abilitynet and Katherine Longworth of Westminster City Council. We were also delighted to welcome current and former students, many of the organisations we have worked with such as Action for Blind People, our tutors and our funders, without whom we would not be able to continue our work.

The highlight of the reception was the presentation of a film showing U Can Do IT tutors at work with several students who were blind, deaf or had a physical disability. The film, which features Richard Kershaw, also included an interview with the charity"s chairman, Anthony Wigram who talked about the challenges facing the charity and the considerable success we have enjoyed to date. Lastly there was footage of the head office staff at work, explaining what goes on behind the scenes to ensure our operations run smoothly.

The film was very warmly received and we plan to use it extensively as part of our strategy to attract more funding and publicity.
