Computer training for blind deaf and disabled people in their own home

Meetings were held this month with Surrey Association for Visual Impairment (SAVI) to discuss some joint working between our two organisations, and it was agreed that we would, as part of expanding operations, make a bid for Big Lottery Funding so as to underpin computer training, for blind deaf & disabled people throughout the county.

 

Discussions were also held with Action Disability Kensington & Chelsea concerning the provision of computers and training under Individual Budgets (IB) currently being piloted within the borough. IB is the likely successor to Direct Payments, where disabled people are assessed for their needs and are subsequently given an annual budget – all part of giving disabled people choice and independence.
