U Can Do I.T is a pioneering charity, teaching computer and internet skills to blind, deaf, and physically disabled people living in Greater London. Learners are taught how to e-mail, surf the web, and access news groups and chat rooms. The basic course consists of 10 lessons – each lesson costing from just £1, and lasting between one and two hours. Highly skilled tutors who are very patient and give one to one lessons at the learners own speed in the privacy of the learner’s own homes. All of the tutors are police – vetted, and all have extensive IT backgrounds. They are also nice people who understand about disabilities, and we make every effort to match them with the disability involved.

Over 600 students have completed the course, with medical conditions, which include Head Injuries, Arthritis, Blindness, Cerebral Palsy, Deafness, MS, Polio and many more. The course offers the chance of greater independence through internet shopping, and banking and more inclusiveness through e-mail communication and chat rooms – and its good fun. Also age is no restriction, with the youngest at 12, and the oldest aged 80, currently on the course.

Being taught one to one at home has many advantages, in particular, immediate answers to questions, and no concerns about falling behind in course work. The course and the material are geared around the individual needs – so why not get IT trained.
