December Newsletter
In November we reported a disappointing initial batch of responses to our bids for European Social Funds (ESF), however the position has now changed, with positive outcomes from Learning + Skills Councils (LSC) London North and London South, and the Association of London Government(ALG). This is great news, and will involve us in new activities, as with all of these bids we needed Partners in order to be able to deliver the activities called for.Our partners in LSC North are Middlesex Association for Blind people (centre based ICT training), Recycle-IT, who are providing re-cycled re-furbished computers, and the National Extension College, who have a range of distance learning courses available to the beneficiaries once the computer training is finished, with the aim of training disabled people, in order to bring them closer to the labour market.
Both the other Tenders were similar, in that they involved getting computers into individual homes, and again with the aim of learning and/or job training. Our partner in LSC South is Croydon College, and with ALG our partners are Action for Blind People (job training), and RNIB who are supplying computers and technical assistance.
We also had good news from The Trusthouse Charitable Foundation who gave us a grant for £10,000 towards training costs.
Over the coming months it is the turn of local Councils, and we will let you know how this progresses.
