November 2004
Initial results from the big European Social Fund bids we made back inOctober, have been somewhat disappointing, though competition is fierce. Job Centre Plus for example had £31 million available across a range of measures, while total bids amounted to more than £200 million! This is one we did not get, however we have been put on the Reserve list for Learning + Skills Council London Central, which means we have some chance of securing funding - we keep our fingers crossed.
Better news however from the first of our Local Authority bids, with success in Wandsworth worth £12,000 for 10 students in 2005/6, though we won"t hear from other Councils until early 2005.
We have just finished a blitz on big Financial institutions, and are now following this up Retailers.
One interesting new development is that we have set up our own "Shop" with buy.at/ucdit (link on the front page of the U Can Do I.T. website). There are a range of deals from a host of retailers including Marks & Spencer, Comet and Oddbins - all of whom will donate a proportion of their profit to this organisation, should you decide to buy from them.
