Grants and Donations

We estimate that there are 100,000 blind, deaf and disabled people in the United Kingdom who could benefit from using a computer. People do not realise what a huge difference it makes to a blind person to be able to use a computer.  Imagine if for the first time in 20 years you had the ability to read your own post without relying on a stranger to come and read your personal letters.

For the first time in their lives, they are able to achieve a degree of independence to buy  things on line, communicate with friends and family.  Some of our graduate students have now become tutors for the charity and bring their own experience to benefit their students.

Only a small percentage of funding comes from individual donations and legacies.  Even small donations from a large number of people would form the basis of secure long lasting sustainable income.

Most people do not have direct personal experience of disability and those that do are more likely to give to a specific charity dealing with a single disability, for example Multiple Sclerosis, rather than a charity like UCanDoIT which in fact has given support to people with more than 85 different disabilities.

Last year we trained 240 people, however, although this was a huge achievement for us we estimate that it would take us over 400 years to provide tutorials for all the people in the UK who need our help.

How To Donate

By making a donation you will enable a disabled person to gain a greater level of independence.  To make a donation or to set up a standing order please go to this link Donation Form to complete our form.

Gift Aid

Gift Aid is a scheme where you give a sum of money to charity and that charity can reclaim basic rate tax from your donation from the Inland Revenue. That will increase the value of the donation, for example, if you give £10 using Gift Aid your donation increases to £12.82.
