“I am profoundly deaf and have been since birth. When the deaf tutor visited my house, he had excellent communication with me in British Sign language. The course helped me to improve largely because of the easy communication in BSL. The deaf tutor provided a lot of encouragement and support.
During the UCanDoIT sessions, I grew more interested in online shopping which I had never used before. My first purchase was from Amazon where I ordered a DVD. I also enjoyed learning about the email system and chat-rooms such as MSN, especially with webcam because I have a lot of deaf friends and family that I can communicate with via MSN.
Also, internet search engines allowed me to explore my interests in depth about this world. I am delighted with the encouragement provided by the deaf tutor, who enabled me to learn to learn with a lot more confidence, with better communication and information”.
